WIC is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy.

Nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and assistance with access to health care are provided to low-income women, infants, and children through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, popularly known as WIC.

The income guidelines for WIC were recently updated (effective April 1, 2009– March 31, 2010)

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for WIC if you:

  • Live in Washington State , and
  • Are pregnant, a new mother, or a child under five years of age, and
  • Meet the income guidelines below, and
  • Have a medical or nutritional need.

How to Apply

  • Find the WIC clinic closest to your home or call the Family Health Hotline at 1-800-322-2588.
  • Make an appointment at your local clinic – your appointment should take only 30-45 minutes
  • Bring identification; proof of residency; proof of income; and if you are pregnant, proof of pregnancy to your WIC appointment
